Work involves maintaining all Probate Court case records, take in and set up Probate Court cases. This position also maintains continued responsibilities for cases as they work their way through the system. The work of an employee in this position involves all duties performed by staff as well as additional responsibilities involving training, occasional supervision, backup to the Supervisor, Probate Court, and other guidance. This requires the application of judgment based upon knowledge gained through experience. Duties and Responsibilities Performs all duties necessary to maintain office routine and efficiency. Maintain Probate Court case files - scans, indexes and dockets cases, file creation; ongoing take in and scanning of subsequent filings. Takes in, by mail, electronic filing, or in person, cases, including but not limited to wills, administrations, conservatorships/guardianships, name changes, adoptions, commitments, condemnations, etc., filed by attorneys or individuals. Types all necessary papers and prepares cases for hearings. Reviews filings to be sure applicable requirements of statutes have been met prior to hearing/Judge's review. Prepares billing for court files. As directed by the Chief Clerk, assists with election day preparation and provides support and assistance to the poll workers and public on election day. Reviews and provides input on performance evaluations for the Probate Clerk I and II. Provides training and assigns duties to the Probate Clerk I and II. Drafts orders. Serve as backup to the Supervisor, Probate Court in preparing daily deposits for Probate Court. Makes deposits and disbursements for the fiduciary account in the absence of the Supervisor, Probate Court. Maintains the noncompliance docket with the assistance of the Supervisor, Probate Court and attends the hearings regarding said docket. Works with the Chief Clerk in updating and creation of materials contained in the Probate Court Manual. Backup to the Supervisor, Probate Court in attending uncontested hearing as needed Supervises and directs work of other employees in the absence of supervisors. Assists with the creation of Probate Web forms. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. Three years of experience working in a probate office or law office. Three years of experience that demonstrates the above listed knowledge, skill and abilities, including beginning to intermediate skills and knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook. Valid driver's license. Bonding is required. Must not be disqualified from commission as a Notary Public.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is mostly performed in an office environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is sedentary in nature and involves sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds and walking. Occasionally work may require lifting heavy books, weighing 20 to 50 pounds.

No written or performance examination will be required for this position.
