Job Description

Summary:
Under the supervision of the County Clerk, this position assists with the statutory duties and daily operations of the County Clerk's Office. The position is responsible for processing a variety of official documents and providing professional, courteous service to the public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Process documents related to court cases, legal registrations, concealed weapon permits that includes fingerprinting, DBA filings, and vital records. Assist the public with departmental inquiries and requests in person, by telephone, and through written correspondence. Represent the County Clerk in their absence by following established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Maintain accurate records and ensure documents and transactions are processed in a timely and confidential manner. Assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the County Clerk. This is a fast-paced office environment that requires the ability to manage a wide variety of responsibilities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
Eligibility:
This position is open to all individuals who meet the minimum qualifications outlined below.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Qualifications:
Previous clerical or administrative experience required. Must demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Must be able to effectively multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities. Must successfully pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing and able to travel to locations throughout Michigan to attend state-required training courses and other educational programs related to the duties of the County Clerk's Office. Must be able to work effectively in a busy public-service environment while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
