Accurately maintain and update court records, case files, citations, warrants, dockets and any other legal documentation. Prepare court dockets, jury lists, and other any other court-related correspondence or documentation. Answer phone calls and emails regarding court proceedings. Serve as courtroom clerk during court sessions. Accept payments and maintain accurate receipt records showing monies collected. Work with Finance Department staff on payment collection, reconciliation, reporting and audit requirements. Prepare and process case files for various types of proceedings, including forwarding appropriate notice to corresponding parties and entering actions taken into electronic systems. Perform administrative tasks of varying complexity that require considerable discretion and knowledge of municipal court operations and procedures. Attend court-related training/seminars to maintain knowledge and compliance requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Knowledge:
Considerable knowledge of municipal court processes and procedures, as well as pertinent Federal, State and local laws. Experience with standard office equipment and tasks, including but not limited to computers, phones, and document scanners. Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including good interpersonal skills. Proficiency in use of personal computer, with experience using Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Tyler Technology ERP Pro 9 (lnCode) software and eForce preferred.
Abilities:
Ability to speak and deal tactfully and effectively in high pressure situations. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with City employees, officials, and representatives from the local, state, and federal agencies. High level of integrity and dependability. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to understand and apply state laws and City ordinances. Bilingual preferred.
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years related experience required. Associate degree in criminal justice, public administration or related field is preferred. Must have a valid Texas Driver s license. Must be notary public.
Preferred certifications/licenses for this position:
Texas Municipal Court Education Center (TMCEC) Level I Court Clerk Certification; TCIC/TLETS and CJIS certifications. The City of Weimar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
