The Guadalupe Tribal Administration Intern will support the Guadalupe Tribal Administration team at Itom Hiapsi while gaining hands-on experience in Tribal governance, community service, administrative operations, communications, and event coordination. The intern will work closely with the Tribal Administrator and Tribal Administrator Assistant and will have opportunities to engage with Tribal leadership, staff, community members, and programs serving the Guadalupe community. This internship is designed to provide a higher education student with meaningful professional experience while developing an understanding of Tribal government operations, interdepartmental collaboration, and culturally grounded community service.

Work Setting:
Primarily professional office and community settings, with participation in meetings and special events as appropriate. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The intern may assist with: Administrative & Office Support Assist with filing, data entry, document preparation, and organization of departmental records. Prepare correspondence, memos, reports, and other administrative materials as needed. Assist with scheduling meetings and maintaining departmental calendars. Support phone, email, and general office communications and appropriately direct inquiries. Assist with maintaining office supplies, records, and organizational systems. Meetings & Tribal Administration Assist with preparing meeting agendas, materials, information packets, and presentations. Attend meetings as appropriate and assist with taking notes and documenting follow-up items. Help track action items, deadlines, and ongoing administrative projects. Gain exposure to the roles and responsibilities of Tribal Administration and its relationship with Tribal leadership, departments, and the community. Community Events & Engagement Assist with planning and coordinating Tribal and community events, meetings, and activities. Support event preparation, setup, logistics, materials, and post-event follow-up. Coordinate with Tribal departments, community partners, and vendors as appropriate. Participate in community-facing activities that provide exposure to the needs and priorities of the Guadalupe community. Communications Assist with drafting emails, announcements, informational materials, and other communications. Help maintain communication records and distribution lists. Support communication between Tribal Administration, Tribal Council, departments, community partners, and community members. Develop professional communication skills appropriate for a Tribal government setting. Projects & Research Support special projects identified by Guadalupe Tribal Administration. Conduct basic research related to Tribal programs, policies, services, or community initiatives. Assist with data collection, organization, and basic analysis as needed. Help develop presentations, reports, or other materials related to departmental projects. Provide support to other Tribal departments or initiatives when appropriate. Gain experience working within a professional Tribal government environment. Strengthen professional communication, organization, time management, and administrative skills. Learn about community engagement and service within the Guadalupe community . Develop experience with event planning, meeting coordination, and project management. Gain exposure to cultural protocols, Tribal traditions, and culturally responsive approaches to community service. Understand the importance of confidentiality, professionalism, and accountability when working within Tribal government. Build experience collaborating with Tribal leadership, employees, departments, and community partners. Possible Majors or Areas of Interest Students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Areas of study or interest that may align particularly well with this placement include: Public Administration Public Policy Political Science Business Administration Communications Indigenous Studies Community Development Social Sciences Education Event Management Related fields or demonstrated interest in Tribal governance and community service Preferred Skills Interest in Tribal governance, culture, and community service. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Organizational and time-management skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Attention to detail and willingness to learn. Previous administrative, office, community, or volunteer experience is helpful but not required.
