The Student Support Services Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of district-wide student support programs to ensure equitable access, student well-being, and compliance with state and federal regulations. This role supports schools in overseeing Section 504, the Greenbush Virtual Academy, and the Student-Based Health Clinic, and leads discipline processes including expulsion hearings and procedural guidance. The Student Support Services Coordinator serves as the district liaison for McKinney-Vento, Foster Care, and Migrant Education programs, ensuring identification, enrollment, and support of eligible students while maintaining accurate records and compliance with all reporting requirements. The position fosters strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and external agencies, and leads staff training to promote awareness of student rights and available services. Additionally, The Student Support Services Coordinator manages grant programs, and coordinates cross-departmental efforts to address barriers to student success. This role maintains strict confidentiality and promotes practices that connect student health, stability, and academic achievement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Master's Degree in Building Leadership with appropriate Kansas licensure 2. Experience in public school administration 3. Strong written and verbal communication skills 4. Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills 5. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail 6. Proficient in technology skills, including Excel 7. Performance Responsibilities:
Student Services Oversight ? Oversees Section 504 compliance ? Serves as Expulsion Hearing Officer and provides training and guidance on suspension and expulsion procedures ? Serves as liaison for McKinney-Vento, Foster Care, and Migrant Education programs ? Maintains strict confidentiality of student and staff information in compliance with legal and professional standards McKinney-Vento & Foster Care Coordination ? Conducts in-person and video training for all district staff to identify and support eligible students, increasing awareness of McKinney-Vento laws and services ? Presents at building staff meetings and district events when needed (e.g., enrollment, open house, conferences) to share program information and student rights ? Verifies eligibility through timely contact with students, families, and caregivers; connects them to services and documents outcomes ? Maintains required records, including confidential student files and district data for reporting (PowerSchool, KIDS, and other systems) ? Coordinates transportation for students to remain in their school of origin, collaborating with transportation staff as needed ? Assists families in accessing services such as Kancare, SNAP, birth certificates, social security, and other essential documentation ? Notifies Food Service for qualifying students and ensures timely service access ? Collaborates with GEI, Section 504, Special Education teams, and district counselors/social workers to support student needs ? Builds and maintains partnerships with community organizations, shelters, churches, and local resources ? Represents the district on community boards, committees, and outreach initiatives; attends events to increase program awareness (Ex. Chamber of Commerce, Haysville Hope, Haysville Community Outreach, Haysville Ministerial Alliance, Federal Citizens Review Panel). ? Writes and manages the McKinney-Vento federal grant, ensuring full compliance with KSDE and federal guidelines ? Serves as
Foster Care Liaison:
maintains records, coordinates services, communicates with case workers, supports transportation needs, and trains staff ? Facilitates immediate enrollment of McKinney-Vento and foster students, including records transfer and coordination of services ? Maintain documentation on all homeless students containing the student's name, school, grade, services provided and their outcome, State Reading and Math assessment, etc. Job Description Haysville School District, USD 261 Migrant Education Coordination ? Serves as district contact for Migrant Education in collaboration with state and regional coordinators ? Maintains records, facilitates meetings, and supports parent communication Student-Based Health Clinic (SBHC) Coordination ? Serves as liaison between KU Medical Practice and USD 261 to ensure effective collaboration ? Coordinates clinic logistics, space, and meetings to support operations ? Promotes SBHC services through community outreach and district partnerships, including ensuring support for physicals and immunization clinics ? Serves as liaison for the BREATHE Program to ensure coordination, effective operations, and promotion of the program Greenbush Virtual Academy Coordinator ? Facilitates enrollment each semester ? Refers all new and returning students using the referral form ? Maintains audit records for virtual students ? Updates PowerSchool for new and exiting students ? Fills out the appropriate forms for students who exit or graduate ? Monitors weekly progress reports from the academic coach ? Attends student meetings as needed ? Manages FastBridge assessment windows for all students (checking and contacting students to ensure all assessments are completed) ? Assists with virtual state assessments for virtual students who choose to test on-site ? Works with school counselors to place students in the correct classes within Greenbush Virtual Academy ? Contact parents and students as needed Learning Center Oversight ? Schedules and coordinates quarterly workshops ? Schedules and coordinates all rental requests and events held at The Learning Center ? Helps with room setup and cleaning when needed ? Manages budget used for facility upkeep, rentals, materials, and presenters ? Remain on call for any needs throughout the workdays, nights, and weekends ? Researches and writes grants that support district goals and initiatives (Gear-Up, SPARK (which requires annual data collection), McKinney Vento, etc.) Additional Responsibilities ?
