Job Description:
The Department of Nursing in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services invites applications for a full-time Administrative Assistant / Administrative and Office Specialist III (00443). The Nursing Department is part of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, with approximately 275 students enrolled in the pre-licensure Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing program. Longwood's Nursing program was ranked No. 2 in Virginia by RegisteredNursing.org and continues to be ranked among the top 10 BSN programs in the Southeast by NursingProcess.org. Bolstered by its near-perfect pass rate on nursing licensure exams over the past decade, RegisteredNursing.org noted Longwood's exceptional 99.32 percent average NCLEX pass rate in its 2026 rating. The primary function of this position is to provide administrative assistance to the academic department chair and faculty. The Administrative Assistant will also perform a wide variety of moderate to complex program and operational support duties including: Interpreting and applying policies, procedures and guidelines Initiating and managing contracts with healthcare organizations Maintaining onboarding platforms for external clinical partners of healthcare organizations Managing admission databases for the Nursing programs Soliciting, evaluating, and documenting competitive quotes from approved healthcare suppliers to ensure timely procurement of equipment essential to program operations This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is requested to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Requirements:
Experience in a healthcare-related field Associate Degree or certification in a healthcare-related field is preferred Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications and presentation software Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, support and update databases Organizational skills and thoroughness through attention to detail Team-oriented Proficient in communication, discretion, and time management A demonstrated ability and commitment to working with diverse populations and perspectives of students, faculty, and staff in support of the university mission is preferred
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, 12-month, classified, non-exempt position in pay band 3. The anticipated salary range for this position will be $43,470 - $56,925 annually.
