Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Transport Engineer Tech I Essential Duties:
Performs basic design work.
Performs intermediate drafting and calculations in support of design activities; accomplishes non-routine and complexassignments.
Prepares field notes.
Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps.
Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.
Uses automated programs, interactive graphics and the Design and Construction Information System.
Works on reproduction of plans.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Transport Engineer Tech II (including Transport Engineer Tech I)
Essential Duties:
Assists in on-the-job training of less experienced technicians.
Performs advanced drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that includedistinctive design features.
Performs intermediate design work.
Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.
Prepares field notes.
Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.
Uses automated programs, interactive graphics and the Design and Construction Information System.
