Job Description

Job Summary The On-Call Academic Advising Clerk is responsible for providing clerical support for the Advising front desk, including (but not limited to) greeting/assisting students, performing daily office functions and providing overall clerical support. Other functions of this position include answering/handling incoming phone calls, supplying students with appropriate Schoolcraft College forms and/or publications, scheduling appointments, directing students and the public to appropriate rooms/facilities, duplicating materials, and distributing mail to the appropriate mailboxes. This position averages 20-25 hours per week. Schoolcraft is a comprehensive, open-door, community-based college. The mission of the College is to provide a transformational learning experience designed to increase the capacity of individuals and groups to achieve intellectual, social, and economic goals. Job Duties Provide clerical support for the Advising Front Desk. Greet & assist students. Answer incoming phone calls. Schedule appointments. Required Qualifications High school diploma. Customer service experience. Preferred Qualifications College course work. Physical Requirements Schoolcraft College is an AA/EEO Employer.
In-Person:
This position requires the employee to be onsite at Schoolcraft.
Writing Skills:
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Communication Skills:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Office Environment:
This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. Communicating and exchanging information with individuals electronically or in person. This role may also involve standing and walking for periods of time, and the use of hands and moving objects on occasion, of up to 10-20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

$17/hour
