The Crew Lead is responsible for supervising and directing field crews in tree care, vegetation management, and related operations. This role ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and client expectations. The Crew Lead provides guidance, coaching, and oversight from dispatch through post-production, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and productivity. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Take ownership of the crew and operations from dispatch through post-production, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Direct crew activities by providing clear instructions and following up to ensure compliance with directives. Coach, mentor, and train crew members to develop skills, improve performance, and maintain safety standards. Complete accident and near-miss reports on the same business day, documenting incidents accurately. Maintain accountability for all tools, equipment, and crew inventory. Ensure all crew members comply with PPE requirements at all times. Collaborate with the location manager to address and correct improper crew member behavior. Communicate effectively with clients to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction. Lead by example in safety, quality, and productivity, demonstrating best practices in all operations.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure adherence to all company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and

ANSI Z133

arboricultural standards. Monitor crew activities to maintain a safe work environment and reduce risk of incidents. Promote a proactive safety culture, addressing unsafe behaviors immediately and providing guidance to crew members. Participate in regular safety meetings, training sessions, and pre-job briefings.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of field experience in tree care, vegetation management, or related operations. Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong leadership and coaching skills to guide and develop crew members. Ability to manage workflow, delegate tasks, and ensure productivity and quality standards are met. Strong communication skills, both with crew members and clients. Ability to maintain composure and make decisions under pressure in dynamic field conditions. Knowledge of safety regulations, PPE requirements, and proper equipment use.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. CPR/First Aid certification preferred. EHAP or other industry-specific certifications a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments. Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods. Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Exposure to dust, pollen, insects, and uneven terrain. Frequent use of PPE, including gloves, helmets, eye protection, and safety footwear. Work involves supervision of crew members performing high-risk operations with heavy equipment, chainsaws, and aerial work. Noise levels may be high due to equipment and field operations. Work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends depending on project needs.

Pay:

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
