Field work in New York and Pennsylvania SilvaBio plants tree seedlings for landowners across the Northeast and Midwest.
We are looking for two people to join our planting crew on a temporary basis this fall. We pay well, compensate for travel, and provide on-site training. You will work alongside and under the supervision of experienced orchard installers. We are looking for people who are highly dependable, hardworking, and careful. Please apply only if this description fits you. The work Planting happens in short bursts. A typical site takes a crew of four about two days to complete. On a planting day, you would do some combination of: Flagging and measuring planting locations at set spacing Operating a one-person auger to drill planting holes Planting potted seedlings and backfilling Mulching trees and installing hoop cages or tree tubes Loading, unloading, and moving trees and materials around the site Basic site cleanup at the end of the job We provide training on site, and an experienced crew lead will be with you throughout the job. Season :
Late September through early November 2026, with the possibility of similar work in spring 2027
Pattern :
Intermittent, not weekly. Most jobs are two or three consecutive days, clustered around a handful of planting windows
Volume :
Roughly 6-10 planting days total during the fall
Notice :
Dates are scheduled well in advance and confirmed with you before each job This is genuinely temporary, seasonal work. We are looking for people who want exactly that, rather than a path to a full-time position. Where Planting sites are on private properties in New York and northern Pennsylvania. Sites are spread out, so travel is part of the job. You do not need to live near any particular site Mileage, travel time, and overnight lodging are paid when a job requires travel We coordinate travel as a crew wherever possible What we are looking for Comfortable doing physical work outdoors in variable weather, including cold and rain Able to lift and carry 50 pounds repeatedly and walk on uneven ground throughout the day Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to a meeting point Willing to travel to sites and stay overnight when a job requires it Dependable, punctual, and careful — trees planted poorly do not survive, and every tree matters to us No degree or specialized background is required. Helpful but not required Farm, landscaping, nursery, forestry, trail crew, or tree service experience Comfort using an auger, chainsaw, ATV, or UTV Current first aid or CPR certification
Compensation Rate:
$35-$40 per hour, depending on experience
Bonus:
Additional bonus paid after the successful completion of each job
Travel:
