Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Irrigation Specialist to join our dynamic horticultural team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and optimizing irrigation systems across various agricultural and landscaping environments. Your expertise will ensure efficient water management, promote healthy crop and plant growth, and support sustainable farming practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors and indoors, applying your knowledge of irrigation management and horticulture to enhance crop production and landscape aesthetics. Duties Design and implement irrigation systems tailored to specific crop or landscape needs, ensuring optimal water distribution. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation equipment and systems using mechanical knowledge and hand tools. Monitor soil moisture levels, weather conditions, and plant health to adjust watering schedules accordingly. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for irrigation management to ensure consistency and efficiency. Assist with crop pest management, plant pest control, and integrated pest management strategies to promote healthy growth. Collaborate with horticultural teams on greenhouse cultivation, garden trimming, lawn care, and landscaping projects. Conduct regular inspections of irrigation systems to prevent leaks or malfunctions and ensure compliance with environmental standards. Manage outdoor work activities including heavy lifting, planting, pruning, and general gardening tasks as needed. Keep detailed records of irrigation schedules, system repairs, crop progress, and pest control measures. Experience Proven experience working with irrigation systems in agricultural or landscaping settings. Strong knowledge of agricultural environmental control systems and greenhouse cultivation techniques. Hands-on experience with crop production practices such as gardening, farming, land management, and lawn care. Familiarity with plant identification, basic math for measurements and calculations, and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Prior experience managing horticultural teams or working within a team environment is preferred. Outdoor work experience in varied weather conditions is essential for success in this role. Knowledge of plant pest control methods and integrated pest management strategies is highly desirable. Basic understanding of horticulture principles including garden trimming, landscaping, and greenhouses.
