Storybook Farm is looking for a dependable, hardworking Farm Assistant to join our team and help care for the animals, grounds, and facilities that make our mission possible. About Storybook Farm Since 2002, Storybook Farm has been building healthier, brighter futures for children facing adversity. Today, our nonprofit serves approximately 4,500 children each year through hands-on learning experiences with horses, dogs, gardens, and nature. All programs are provided at no cost to families. Our 51-acre farm is a busy, active environment, and keeping it safe, beautiful, and ready for the children we serve takes a dedicated team. The Position The Farm Assistant is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys physical work, being outdoors, and working as part of a team. Responsibilities vary from day to day and include animal care, barn work, landscaping, grounds maintenance, and general farm projects. This is a great opportunity for a college student or other individual looking for meaningful, part-time work in a unique farm environment. Responsibilities Assist with horses' daily care and feeding Clean and organize barns, animal areas, and farm facilities Assist with general landscaping and grounds maintenance Care for flower beds, shrubs, trees, and outdoor spaces Assist with painting, fence repair and maintenance, and minor repairs Maintain trails and outdoor areas by clearing branches and debris Help keep the farm clean, safe, organized, and welcoming for participants and visitors Pitch in with other farm projects and responsibilities as needed What We're Looking For Dependable, punctual, and responsible Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Physically able to perform manual labor and lift and carry heavy objects Able to follow directions and work independently when needed Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a safe, well-cared-for environment Previous horse experience is helpful but not required
Schedule:
Part-time, year-round; weekday and weekend availability needed
