The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in both mechanical and electrical irrigation systems, with a strong understanding of hydraulics, system zoning, and water management technology. Key Responsibilities System Inspection & Diagnostics Perform routine inspections of irrigation systems across multi-acre commercial and HOA properties. Test system pressure and flow to identify inefficiencies, leaks, or blockages. Use diagnostic tools (wire trackers, multimeters, pressure gauges, flow sensors) to locate faults. Troubleshooting & Repairs Locate and repair broken lateral and main lines, malfunctioning valves, and solenoids. Diagnose electrical faults and repair damaged field wiring, splices, and decoder systems. Identify and replace defective rotors, sprays, drip emitters, filters, and pressure regulators. Detect hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture detection methods. Pump & Controller Work Inspect and maintain irrigation pumps, check valves, and suction assemblies. Troubleshoot pump start relays, float switches, and flow control devices. Install, program, and fine-tune smart controllers (Rain Bird LX, ESP-Me, Hunter Hydrawise, Toro Evolution, etc.). Calibrate rain sensors, flow sensors, and weather-based irrigation controls. System Optimization & Recordkeeping Adjust heads, nozzles, and arc patterns for proper coverage and uniformity. Audit zones to ensure correct runtime, precipitation rate, and distribution efficiency. Map valve boxes and zone wiring for future maintenance reference. Keep detailed service logs, zone maps, and controller programming notes. Installation & Upgrades Assist with installation of new systems, retrofitting existing zones for water conservation. Install drip systems, submain lines, and lateral lines. Recommend upgrades such as smart controllers, master valves, or pump start relays for aging systems. Team & Safety Communicate clearly with project managers and property managers about site conditions and repairs. Follow all company safety standards and PPE requirements. Occasionally supervise helpers or laborers on repair or installation projects. Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years of irrigation repair and installation experience (commercial or HOA experience strongly preferred). Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills. Proficiency with wire tracing, solenoid testing, controller programming, and pump diagnostics. Knowledge of irrigation materials, fittings, and local codes. Valid Florida driver's license and clean driving record. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Reliable, organized, and able to work outdoors year-round. Compensation & Benefits Our regular schedule is 50 hours per week, and we incentivize irrigation technicians for production. Year-round, steady work with high-end commercial accounts. Paid holidays.
