Job Description

Overview The Bear's Club is looking for a highly motivated and detailed individual, with a great passion for working with landscaping and plants. This individual will be responsible for the meticulous care and maintenance of all areas outlined in the following job description.

Golf Maintenance General Duties:
Overseeing and hands on work with interior and exterior plants in and around the Clubhouse, the Cub House, the Range House, the Cart Barn, the Teaching Academy and any other areas as determined by the supervisor. Plants to be maintained include trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, vines, Palmettos, and potted plants.
Standard Duties:
  • Design, install and maintain landscape areas as outlined above. Design includes renovating and adding to beds as needed or directed and keeping all areas in an aesthetically pleasing arrangement at all times. Installation includes all perennials and annuals. Maintenance includes watering, trimming, pruning, fertilizing, training of vines, mulching, and trimming hedges.
  • Develop a detailed annual plan for the various priority levels of the designed landscape areas.
  • Oversee pest control subcontractor. Evaluate option of in-house pest control and the possibility of implementing a pest management program to reduce toxic pest use.
  • Interior work includes design, installation and maintenance of interior plantscape including rotation of flowering plants and seasonal color. Assistance with holiday decorations and cut flowers as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain, repair and adjust irrigation system as needed. Adjust control clocks as weather and season demand.
  • Work with Maintenance Engineer to ensure that landscape lighting is in working order and not blocked by plants.
  • Assist in developing department budget and do the best job possible to stay within the budget.
  • Assist in minor landscape construction projects.
  • Maintain a clean shop, tools and work areas.
  • Abide and adhere to the Employee Handbook.

Knowledge of horticulture principles including plant pest control, pesticide management, and soil health practices. Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and irrigation controllers. Strong understanding of landscaping design principles
Pay:
From $80,000.00 per year
