Job Description Job Description:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a progressive dairy operation who is searching for a dependable Herdsman to assist with the daily care and management of the herd while promoting excellent animal health, welfare, and productivity. This hands on position is responsible for monitoring cattle health, milking fresh and hospital cows, administering treatments and vaccinations as directed, assisting with calvings and newborn calf care, and maintaining accurate herd health records. Additional responsibilities include moving and sorting cattle, maintaining clean and safe livestock facilities, operating and performing routine maintenance on livestock equipment, and working closely with management and other team members to ensure daily operational goals are achieved. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine passion for working with dairy cattle.

  • Previous experience working with dairy cattle or other livestock required
  • Strong knowledge of herd health, livestock handling, and animal husbandry practices
  • Ability to recognize signs of illness or injury and administer treatments as directed
  • Experience assisting with calving and newborn calf care preferred
  • Ability to safely operate livestock handling equipment and perform basic equipment maintenance
  • Strong communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed Why is This a
