Non-exempt Under general supervision, leads and participates in skilled park maintenance operational and maintenance duties within their assigned work section. •T his position performs duties deemed to be "safety-sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City's policies• Leads and participates in one of the following assigned work sections: Horticulture/ forestry duties including planting, weeding, watering, mulching, pruning, general tree maintenance, and debris removal. Assists with prioritizing, scheduling, assigning and quality control of work. Maintains inventory of tools, equipment and material. Plans materials and tools required to complete work tasks. Prepares and maintains work reports as required. Performs chemical applications as required. Operates small power equipment including weed eater, hedge trimmer, chainsaw, blower, edger, auger, and power hand tools. Operates medium to heavy equipment including mower, tractor, dump truck, skid loader, sprayer, stump grinder, wood chipper and aerial truck. Performs routine to complex irrigation operational and maintenance tasks. Performs site inspections as required. Assists supervisor with safety and operational training. Assists supervisor with personnel evaluations. Performs duties of the supervisor in their absence. Leads and participates in ice and snow removal duties. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent, supplemented by one to three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the state of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a pesticide applicator license issued by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture or a Certified Playground Safety Inspector license or a pool operator's permit. Tasks involve the ability to exert exceptionally strong physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, and crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (up to 150 pounds ).
