Part-Time (Approximately 10-20 hours per week, flexible)
Compensation:
Competitive, based on experience We are seeking a dependable, resourceful, and mechanically inclined caretaker to oversee the ongoing maintenance and stewardship of our family's 600+ acre ranch near Silver Lake, Oregon. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in maintaining rural properties, and has experience with general maintenance, equipment, and off-grid systems. The schedule is flexible and will vary seasonally depending on projects and maintenance needs. Some work may be completed personally, while larger projects may be coordinated with outside contractors.
The ranch includes:
Main residence
Original ranch house
Barn and outbuildings
Several single-room tiny cabins
Solar power system with battery storage
Private well
Recreational vehicles and utility equipment The property is approximately 10 miles from paved roads and requires someone who is comfortable working in a remote environment. Primary Responsibilities
Perform routine inspections of all buildings and grounds
Pest and rodent prevention and control
Landscape maintenance, vegetation management, and seasonal property upkeep
General repairs, preventative maintenance, and light carpentry
Maintain and service recreational vehicles, trailers, and ranch equipment
Assist with operation of a small tractor and other equipment (experience preferred)
Coordinate maintenance and repairs of the solar power system, batteries, and well system with qualified service providers when needed
Identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems
Coordinate outside contractors when specialized work is required
Recommend and oversee property improvements and capital projects
Assist with future irrigation installation and ongoing maintenance
Help keep the property secure, organized, and ready for family use throughout the year Desired Qualifications
Experience maintaining rural properties, ranches, farms, or large estates
Strong mechanical aptitude and general handyman skills
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
Ability to troubleshoot problems and prioritize maintenance needs
Experience operating a small tractor or similar equipment is preferred
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, irrigation, or solar systems is a plus
Reliable transportation and excellent communication skills
