Previous irrigation troubleshooting and repair experience is required. What You'll Be Doing As an Irrigation Service Technician, you will diagnose, repair, and service residential, commercial, and industrial irrigation systems throughout our service area.
Typical responsibilities include:
Troubleshoot irrigation systems that are not operating correctly Diagnose electrical and hydraulic irrigation problems Use a digital multimeter/voltage meter to troubleshoot 24VAC irrigation systems Test controller output, field wiring, solenoids, valves, and electrical continuity Locate and diagnose bad valves, failed solenoids, wiring faults, shorts, opens, and controller problems Troubleshoot zones that will not turn on or will not shut off Repair broken irrigation lines, fittings, valves, heads, nozzles, and other components Replace and repair irrigation controllers Troubleshoot rain/freeze sensors and other irrigation system components Locate valves and assist with locating damaged or buried wiring Adjust sprinkler heads, rotors, spray patterns, pressure, and coverage Identify leaks and excessive water usage Perform system inspections and recommend necessary repairs Explain repair findings clearly to customers and management Document work performed, materials used, and additional repairs needed Maintain an organized service vehicle, tools, and inventory What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who understands how an irrigation system works , not just how to replace parts.
Qualified applicants should have:
Previous hands-on irrigation repair and troubleshooting experience Experience using a multimeter/voltage meter Understanding of 24VAC irrigation electrical systems Ability to troubleshoot controllers, valves, solenoids, and field wiring Ability to diagnose problems systematically rather than simply replacing parts Experience repairing PVC irrigation piping and fittings Knowledge of common spray heads, rotors, valves, controllers, and irrigation components Ability to work independently and complete service calls efficiently Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to work outdoors in South Texas weather Ability to perform physical work including digging, lifting, bending, and working around irrigation valve boxes Experience with commercial irrigation systems, two-wire systems, pump systems, master valves, flow sensors, and advanced irrigation controllers is a plus. Texas Landscape Irrigator or Irrigation Technician license is a plus, but hands-on troubleshooting ability and experience are extremely important to us. What This Job Is NOT This is not an entry-level irrigation position . If your irrigation experience is primarily installing sprinkler heads, digging trenches, or laying PVC under the direction of another technician, this position may not be the right fit. We need someone who can be given a service call such as: "Zone 6 isn't working." …and know how to determine whether the problem is the controller, wiring, splice, solenoid, valve, hydraulics, or another component.
