HAND NEEDED
Care for live farm, ranch, open range, which may include cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, and other equines, as well as poultry, rabbits, finfish, shellfish, and bees. Look after animals raised for products like meat, fur, skins, feathers, eggs, milk. Responsibilities may involve feeding, watering, herding, grazing, milking, castrating, branding, de-beaking, weighing, catching, and loading animals. You might also keep records on the animals, check them for signs of disease or injury, assist with births, and give medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as needed. Cleaning and maintaining animal housing areas may also be part of the job. This role includes workers who collect eggs in hatcheries. Additionally, you may manually plant, cultivate, and harvest vegetables, fruits, nuts, horticultural specialties, and field crops. Use hand tools like shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Tasks may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers, transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops, applying pesticides, and cleaning, grading, sorting, packing, and loading harvested products. You may also build trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, or take part in irrigation activities. Pay DOE

Job Duties:
Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies.
Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures.
Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain.
Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment.
Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos.
Record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs.
Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting.
Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.
Harvest plants, and transplant or pot and label them.
