Job Description

Meadowlark Farm is a pick your own peach and apple orchard located 25 minutes east of Wichita, KS. We supply fresh produce to local food enthusiasts via farmers markets in the Wichita area, and directly to pick your own customers who visit our farm. We offer a friendly, safe and educational local food experience at our farm where customers can pick their own peaches, apples and vegetables. The Farm Store Assistant Manager helps care for customers, the farm store and the farm store environs. A successful farm store worker will have: 1. Friendly and positive approach towards co-workers and customers 2. Readiness to learn all aspects of a mixed horticulture retail farming operation. 3. Enthusiasm for serving customers. 4. Neat and tidy appearance. 5. Honest, reliable and transparent approach to all aspects of his work at the farm. 6. Driver's license and ability to get to the farm 7. Ability to learn and accurately and quickly use our point of sale equipment, and in general conduct cash and credit card sales transactions with customers optimally. 8. Ability to lift 25lb loads repeatedly 9. Willingness and legal ability to serve alcohol at the Meadowlark Farm Cidery tap-room 10. Ability and experience in stocking, merchandising and re-ordering farm store produce and other goods This is a full time seasonal agriculture labor position available starting now and lasting until November 2026 and could last year-round. This is an 'at-will' position and can be terminated without cause by either party with immediate effect. It is understood however, that it is preferable if the customary 2 weeks advance notification be provided by either party prior to separation.
Specific duties include:
1. Oversight of the customer experience from their first welcome and orientation to their final checkout and departure. 2. Mastering the various forms of sales transactions and use of the point of sale software and hardware to provide accurate sales transactions that are transparent for the customer and for our business operations. 3. Ensure a clean, tidy and attractive farm store by maintaining sanitary cleanliness of the store, cider taps, fridges and other food contact equipment and surfaces, and maintaining a high quality presentation of fresh produce inventory. 4. Other duties such as produce picking or collecting/sorting, of fresh produce that is for sale in the store. 5. Moving chairs and other lawn furniture around to prepare for events. 6. Working closely with the farm store manager to identify and implement re-ordering of merchandise, promote sales, add new items and phase out non-selling items. All work should be done in a personally safe way that ensures high quality produce and service at an optimal level of effort. This means work attendance is punctual, work focus is undistracted with cell phones, music, divided attention, and we use the best tools in the best condition possible to complete the task. apply with a resume and cover letter
