The Assistant Cattle Manager will work closely with the Cattle Manager to prioritize and delegate feedyard work requirements. + Maintain communication with cattle manager regarding cattle handling and care + Support, coordinate and direct supervision of all cattle handling crews + Perform discretionary decisions in the Cattle Manager's absence + Distinguish and identify cattle as to quality, health, or at risk + Aware of cattle nutritional and health knowledge + Sort and order cattle per manager's specifications and requirements + Receiving or rejection of cattle + Perform proper documentation of all cattle received + Help schedule and place all feedyard staff and coordinate their activities + Assist with maintaining proper health care supplies + Establish proper cattle care crews + Perform maintenance of all cattle care facilities + Manage cattle sorting and classification + Maintain accurate inventory of cattle in home pens, hospital pens, etc. + Manage maintenance of medicine inventories + Facilitate movements of cattle across the feedyard + Run or approve any clearance reports on all pens to be shipped + Structure and maintain an efficient feedyard schedule + Manage and support a continual observance and enforcement of safety policies and procedures + High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience + Class A CDL license (or must be able to obtain within 60 days) + Detailed oriented to provide accurate and consistent work + Excellent customer service skills + Work independently and as a team member + Knowledge of feedyard cattle processing programs including animal health and habits + Experience in managing employee labor, feeding, herd health, & BQA + General computer knowledge + Operating computerized machinery + Livestock accidents, moving machinery, contaminated medical equipment, vehicular and livestock traffic + Heavy lifting, walking, long-term standing, climbing equipment + Con To view full details and how to apply, please login or create a Job Seeker account
