Working in close collaboration with the Owner, the Operations Manager takes direct ownership of all phases of sod production, equipment oversight, and logistics. This is a full-time position for a motivated agricultural professional ready to manage daily execution, drive crop performance, and maintain high standards across all fields and operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Production & Crop Management Plan, schedule, and execute all phases of sod production, including planting, fertilization, irrigation, mowing, pest/weed control, and harvest. Continuously monitor crop health and growth stages across all fields; independently adjust practices based on weather, soil conditions, and agronomic needs. Coordinate soil testing, nutrient management, and chemical application programs with agronomic consultants and suppliers. Maintain field, application and treatmen records. Equipment & Facilities Oversight Oversee the safe operation, routine maintenance, and repairs for all farm equipment and machinery. Diagnose repair needs, source parts, and make purchasing recommendations to ensure minimal operational downtime. Ensure farm buildings, irrigation infrastructure, and grounds are maintained in safe, functional, and efficient condition. Staff Supervision & Labor Management Direct, schedule, and supervise daily farm labor to execute tasks safely and on schedule. Foster a productive, safe, and collaborative work environment. Administrative & Financial Execution Maintain accurate operational records, including production tracking, maintenance logs, and inventory. Monitor operational supplies and coordinate timely ordering of seed, fertilizer, fuel, and replacement parts. Operations & Logistics Coordinate harvest schedules, order fulfillment, and delivery logistics in direct partnership with office staff. Supervise product quality control, field loading, and transport preparation prior to delivery. Manage irrigation system setup, operation, scheduling, and troubleshooting. Ensure non-cultivated grounds, roadways, and boundaries are maintained to farm standards. Customer & Vendor Interaction Serve as the primary on-site operational point of contact for contractors, delivery drivers, and customers. Communicate real-time inventory levels, field readiness, and order updates to management and office personnel. Professional representation of the farm in all industry, vendor, and customer interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

Agricultural management, turfgrass/sod production, commercial landscaping oversight, or farm operations.

Education:

Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical farm management experience).

Technical Skills:

Proven knowledge of sod production, agronomy, irrigation systems, and agricultural machinery repair/maintenance.

Leadership:

Demonstrated ability to direct, motivate, and manage field crews effectively.

Licensing & Certifications:

Valid driver's license (required). State Pesticide Applicator License (required). Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (a plus).

Pay:

$22.00 - $30.00 per hour
