Job Summary Airo Livestock is seeking a skilled and versatile farm hand to join the Farm and Ranches team as Livestock and Property Caretaker. Collinston Utah is in the Bear River Valley drainage. The Caretaker is responsible for the day-to-day management and long-term productivity of a diversified cattle and crop operation. This role oversees cattle care, crop planning, equipment and pivot maintenance, inventory, personnel coordination, and projects across multiple ranches, with a focus on efficiency, animal health, and overall farm performance. Responsibilities:
Cattle Care & Grow Yard Management Oversee daily care and handling of cattle, including feeding, health checks, and herd movement. Manage cattle grow yard, Including receiving, processing, feeding programs, and shipping. Monitor animal health and performance, coordinate with veterinarians and nutritionists. Implement and enforce animal welfare, biosecurity, and safety protocols. Stocker & Ranch Oversight Supervise stocker cattle operations across multiple ranches. Coordinate grazing rotations, pasture utilization, and movement of cattle. Monitor weight gain, cattle health, and overall performance of cattle on each property. Crop Planning & Performance Develop and implement annual and seasonal crop plans (variety selection, planting schedules, fertility, and pest management). Monitor crop growth, yields, and quality; adjust management based on field conditions and performance data. Coordinate planting, spraying, fertilizing, and harvest activities. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, animal welfare, and regulatory requirements. Implement and monitor safety programs, training, and incident reporting. Equipment & Pivot Maintenance Oversee maintenance and repair of all farm equipment (tractors, implements, trucks, loaders, etc.). Schedule and perform routine service to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Manage maintenance of irrigation pivots, including inspections, troubleshooting, and basic repairs. Maintain records of service, repairs, and equipment usage. Inventory & Resource Management Manage inventory of feed, seed, chemicals, fuel, parts, vaccine, cattle, and supplies. Track usage and reorder to ensure adequate on-hand quantities. Work with vendors and service providers to secure competitive pricing and reliable supply. Project & Operational Management Plan, coordinate, and execute infrastructure and improvement projects (fencing, corrals, water systems, buildings, etc.). Develop work plans, timelines, and budgets for projects. Monitor operational costs and contribute to budgeting and forecasting. Maintain accurate records of activities, inputs, and performance for cattle and crops.
Duties include:
  • Proficiently handling cattle horseback, castrating, branding, weaning, sorting and loading animals in a low-stress and efficient manner.
  • Identify sick cattle and administer medications and vaccinations, as appropriate, using proper protocols and procedures.
  • Adhere to all BQA and ranch protocols related to your position and be responsible for documenting the execution of those protocols.
  • Work with cattle and feeding software, including chute-side and pasture tracking programs, to ensure accurate records are maintained on all classes of cattle.
  • Perform standard repairs and maintenance of corrals, fences and water systems.
  • Provide regular maintenance of vehicles, housing, barns, and other outbuildings related to this position.
  • Always maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Regularly attend and participate in crew safety meetings and other trainings.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with vendors, coworkers, lease holders, and other ranch affiliates, while always representing Airo Livestock Company.
  • Full-time, on-site position; work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Extended hours during peak seasons (planting, shipping, weaning, harvest, etc.).
  • Regular lifting, equipment operation, and physical labor required.
  • Other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications and Requirements
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize workload to ensure timely resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of cattle health, nutrition, and low-stress handling practices.
  • Working knowledge of crop production, irrigation, and soil fertility.
  • Hands-on skills with farm equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to use basic farm/ranch software, spreadsheets, and record-keeping systems.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required (depending on operation).
  • Must be able to stretch, be progressive with technology and new ideas.
  • A medium level of computer proficiency and ability to learn new cattle & feeding software programs.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record for insurance purposes.
  • Ability to work with other cultures and speak Spanish preferred.
