Job Summary We are a sister-owned oyster bar in Bath, Maine serving oysters from our own sea-farm in Georgetown. We are seeking two new oyster shuckers to join us. We will hire the week of July 20th and we are looking to train the first week of August.
We have two positions open:
Saturdays & Sundays 3:30pm-8/9pm OR Mondays & Fridays 3:30pm-8/9pm (with other potential weekday shifts, especially in late August-Early September) We stay open until New Year's Eve and then we close for the season. We re-open Mother's Day Weekend. However, if we get you in this Fall/Winter to train, we would love to have you on next Spring/Summer as well! This is a great part-time gig for someone looking for more social-time or anyone that wants to learn more about aquaculture/the art of shucking oysters. We stay pretty busy, especially through the holidays. Our shifts are typically 5-5.5 hours. Pay starts at $8/hour with a pooled tip house, usually becoming $18-$30 an hour. Responsibilities Shuck oysters to order (we will train you as our method is an art form, no need to know how!) Have an interest in aquaculture or fisheries, and have a love for mid-coast Maine Have nice banter with guests as you greet them at the door Prepping lemons, mignonettes, and cocktail sauces for the oyster trays Organize oyster basin to make it look visually pleasing Clean dishes as needed Deliver oysters you've shucked to tables on occasion if host is not available Sanitize the oyster basin & other areas of the bar Familiarize yourself with the local oyster farms to educate guests Maintain the cleanliness of the oyster bar by sweeping, moping, busing tables Scheduling & communication with owners using 7shifts app Qualifications enthusiastic and willing to be friendly with the general public a sense of urgency & the ability to stay calm under pressure be able to get yourself to work in downtown Bath on time able to lift 20+ pounds and stand for 5.5 hour shifts
