Job Description

Overview The Highlands at Harbor Springs is looking for dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Snowmaking team! As a Snowmaker, you will play an essential role in creating and maintaining the high-quality snow conditions our guests know and enjoy throughout the winter season. Snowmakers operate and monitor a variety of snowmaking equipment while working outdoors in changing and often cold weather conditions. This is a rewarding, hands-on position that provides an opportunity to be an important part of the winter operations at The Highlands.

Start up and shut down snowmaking equipment according to established procedures. Constantly monitor and adjust snowguns to maintain optimal snow production and quality. Regularly inspect and clean dirt, ice, and snow from snowmaking equipment, hoses, hydrants, and related areas. Shovel snow from hydrants, doors, hatches, and other operational areas as needed. Assist other departments with resort operations and projects as necessary. Take responsibility for the overall appearance, cleanliness, and presentation of the resort. Follow all safety procedures and communicate equipment or operational concerns to supervisors. Work cooperatively with other members of the Snowmaking and Mountain Operations teams. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred; no prior snowmaking experience required, training is provided. Skiing or snowboarding experience preferred. Valid driver's license required. Ability to safely operate and learn snowmaking equipment. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable performing physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and shoveling snow. Able to stand and walk for most of the shift and work on snowy or icy terrain. Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in cold and changing weather conditions. Full-time and part-time positions available, including evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. Schedule may vary based on weather and snowmaking conditions.
