Job Overview:
The Night Position is our current primary need, which is from 4:30PM-11PM during our Summer hours and is subject to change when we shift to Winter hours. -Other shifts could become available for additional hours. This opportunity is geared for those that have open availability in the afternoons and weekends. Shelter employees are provided with free meals while on shift. The Shelter Attendant will perform various duties to support shelter operations and guests. Shelter attendants will be serving and helping individuals battling addiction, alcoholism and homelessness. The Madras Shelter is a Faith Based Network (FBN) entity and therefore you would be employed by Faith Based Network (FBN). A background check will be required for all applicants.
Ideal Candidate:
Passionate about serving and helping others in need. Willingness to learn and grow with changes as they occur. Has experience working in a shelter setting other related field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Work with the onsite security team and coworkers to ensure the building is safe and secure. Be able to communicate effectively with empathy and compassion. Observe security cameras (iPads) and communicate with the security team and coworkers of any safety concerns or violations. Setup and break down of guest sleeping areas in case of overflow. Logging dinner and shelter stays in the Apricot database. Conduct new guest intakes. The preparation and or serving of meals and beverages. Assist our guests with obtaining appropriate resources during their shelter stay. Respond to emergency situations professionally. Notify law enforcement, EMS, and On-Call Manager when situations arise. The stripping of beds and the running of laundry. Assist guests in sanitation and storage of bedding daily. General cleaning of kitchen, tables, dishes, counters, bathrooms and floors. Basic food preparation for breakfast and sack lunches. Knowledge, Skill, and/or
Ability Required:
Complete required forms and protocols accurately and consistently. Maintain composure in stressful and sometimes fast paced situations. Basic writing and computer skills. Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Food Handlers Certificate ( Able to attain after employment). CPR Certified ( Able to attain after employment).
Other Recommended Skills:
Respectfully interact with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, but not required. Working in a service field or care facility is preferred, but not required. Work effectively with clients displaying a variety of behaviors.
Pay:
From $18.00 per hour
