Job description: We're looking for a reliable, physically fit Construction Technician to join our wood pole inspection and reinforcement teams. Your primary daily task will be excavating around utility poles with a shovel, along with supporting skilled workers, operating hand and power tools, and maintaining a safe, clean job site. This is a field-based role with significant travel — perfect for someone who thrives outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and is ready to roll up their sleeves. What You'll Do Daily Field Work Excavate around utility poles using a shovel — this is the primary daily function of the rolePerform manual labor including lifting, carrying, digging, and moving materials and equipmentLoad and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites Site Preparation & Support Prepare work areas by setting up barriers, removing debris, and organizing tools and materialsAssist foreman and skilled workers by supplying tools, materials, and on-site supportMaintain clean, organized, hazard-free work areas throughout the day Equipment & Safety Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic machinery under foreman supervisionFollow all safety regulations and protocols; report hazards, incidents, or injuries immediatelyCommunicate effectively with team members to complete tasks efficiently and meet project goals What You Need Valid driver's license with an approved MVRAbility to travel a minimum of 75% — this is a field-based traveling rolePhysical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform strenuous tasks for extended periodsComfort working outdoors on uneven terrain in all weather conditionsProficiency using a shovel for excavation workStrong work ethic, reliability, and ability to follow instructions and work as part of a teamBasic understanding of job site safety protocols Nice to have Prior experience in construction, general labor, or a related tradeBasic understanding of carpentry, masonry, or other skilled tradesFamiliarity with soil types, excavation techniques, or utility construction
