Job Description

TreesUpstate Upstate South Carolina $15.00 per hour | Part-Time | Do you enjoy working outdoors, making a visible difference in your community, and spending your day planting trees instead of sitting behind a desk? TreesUpstate is seeking energetic, dependable, and hardworking individuals to join our Urban Forestry Corps as Urban Forestry Field Technicians. This position supports tree planting projects, community forestry initiatives, volunteer events, and tree care activities throughout the Upstate of South Carolina. As an Urban Forestry Field Technician, you'll help create healthier neighborhoods, cooler communities, cleaner air, and a stronger urban forest while gaining hands-on experience in environmental conservation and urban forestry. The Fall planting schedule will begin Tuesday, September 9th and conclude in early December. Barring any inclement weather the schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday - 8 am to 2 pm. You must be able to work at least 2 of the 5 days to be considered. We will begin planning for our Spring planting season that will start in January and go through the end of May. What You'll Do Plant trees in parks, schools, neighborhoods, and public spaces. Assist with watering, mulching, staking, pruning, and tree maintenance. Load, unload, and transport trees, tools, and supplies. Prepare planting sites and assist with project setup and cleanup. Support volunteer tree planting events and community outreach activities. Collect tree inventory and project data using mobile devices. Educate volunteers and residents on proper tree planting and care. Represent TreesUpstate professionally in the community. Follow all safety procedures and best management practices. What We're Looking For At least 18 years old. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Reliable transportation to project sites throughout the Upstate. Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Dependable and able to work well with a team. Willingness to learn about trees, urban forestry, and conservation. Preferred Qualifications Experience in landscaping, forestry, arboriculture, conservation, parks maintenance, or construction. Knowledge of tree identification or tree care. Experience working with volunteers or community groups. Valid driver's license.
