FERAL CAT TRAPPER

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center is looking for a feral cat trapper. We will train you to humanely trap and manage feral or stray cat colonies, preparing and handling them for Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs while minimizing stress and ensuring the safety of both cats and humans. Role and Responsibilities A feral cat trapper is responsible for overseeing the humane capture, care, and management of feral cats.
Key duties include:
Colony Assessment :
Observing individual cats, noting age, health, reproductive status, and unique markings. This helps identify nursing mothers, pregnant cats, kittens, or sick animals and ensures accurate planning for trapping and veterinary care
Planning Traps and Equipment :
Selecting and preparing appropriate live traps, lining them with newspaper or soft bedding, and ensuring they are stable, level, and placed in secure locations
Baiting and Setting Traps :
Using strong-smelling food like tuna, sardines, or mackerel to lure cats into traps. Food should be strategically placed so cats step on the trigger plate, and traps must be set just before feeding times to increase success 1 .
Trap Monitoring :
Constantly observing traps to prevent prolonged confinement, injury, or undue stress. Trappers are advised to check traps frequently from a safe distance
Post-Capture Care :
