Summary:

An experienced automotive mechanic to oversee the care, maintenance, preservation, and documentation of a private automobile collection spanning vintage, classic, and modern vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical expertise across multiple eras and marques, exceptional organizational skills, discretion, and a deep understanding of collector vehicle standards, provenance, and long term preservation practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned. Oversee the ongoing maintenance, operation, preservation, and presentation of the vehicle collection. Perform inspections, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, repairs, and operational assessments on collection vehicles. Exercise and road test vehicles regularly to maintain drivability and mechanical health Monitor and maintain batteries, charging systems, tire pressures, fluid levels, fuel stabilization systems, and environmental storage conditions. Coordinate servicing, restoration, detailing, paint correction, upholstery work, and specialty repairs with external vendors and specialists. Maintain detailed records including service histories, provenance documentation, restoration records, ownership history, photographs, valuations, and archival materials. Coordinate logistics for vehicle transportation, towing, acquisitions, sales, exhibitions, concours events, and tours. Safely tow vehicles and trailers as needed for transport, service, and event support. Manage registrations, insurance documentation, compliance requirements, inventory, maintenance schedules, budgets, and parts acquisition planning Source parts, tools, consumables, and specialty items while maintaining accurate inventory records. Prepare maintenance reports, condition summaries, and long-term preservation strategies for collection management. Serve as liaison with collectors, transport providers, vendors, restoration specialists, and other industry partners. Coordinate with Archivist to organize and preserve memorabilia, historical materials, and artifacts directly associated with specific vehicles within the collection. Maintain workshop, garage, storage, and display areas in clean, organized, and safe operating condition, ensuring areas remain free of debris, spills, and automotive fluids. Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards for vehicles, tools, lifts, equipment, and workspaces. Research factory procedures, historical records, authenticity documentation, and technical specifications related to collection vehicles. Must maintain availability in case of emergency breakdown by owner, or be able to offer assistance by phone.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Proven working experience in similar role with a demonstrated understanding of luxury hospitality and service Relevant certifications and training courses preferred Knowledge of safe chemical handling, proper storage, and compliant disposal Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and productivity tools Exceptional organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive with strong follow through Ability to successfully pass a background and motor vehicle record check Must have valid drivers license and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check with no major violations (DUI/DWI) within the past 7 years; minor infractions may be reviewed and do not automatically disqualify

The employee may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. (dolly and cart are available for safety). $55.00 - $72.00 per hour
