Job Description

Job Summary Murphy's Sod is hiring an experienced working foreman to lead one of our installation crews. This is a hands-on leadership position. You will be responsible for organizing the crew, reviewing the job scope, maintaining quality and productivity, enforcing safety rules, communicating problems, logging time, and making sure each project is properly completed and closed out. The right person already knows professional sod installation, grading, and has multiple years of hardscape experience. You must be able to lead employees while working alongside them. This is not an entry-level landscaping position. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a field crew throughout the workday Review job scopes, measurements, materials, access, and special instructions before starting Assign crew members effectively and keep the job moving Perform a jobsite safety inspection and crew briefing before work begins Ensure soil is properly prepared, graded, and leveled before sod installation Ensure sod is installed with tight seams, straight edges, correct cuts, and a professional finish Oversee landscaping and hardscape work, including pavers, retaining walls, edging, gravel, rock, and mulch Verify proper excavation, base preparation, compaction, drainage, and finish elevations Safely operate or supervise the use of skid steers, compactors, saws, and other landscaping equipment Inspect company trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment and report problems immediately Confirm materials and equipment are loaded, secured, and ready for each job Monitor crew productivity, attendance, workmanship, and conduct Train employees on proper installation methods and safe equipment use Address jobsite problems and communicate scope changes or unexpected conditions to management before proceeding Protect customer property and maintain a clean, organized jobsite Complete a final quality-control walkthrough before leaving Take required completion photos and submit job notes, material usage, and other closeout information Walk completed projects with customers when required Collect and properly secure customer payments when assigned Return paperwork, payments, tools, equipment, and unused materials as directed Qualifications Professional sod installation and grading experience required Previous crew-lead or foreman experience required Strong understanding of soil preparation, grading, drainage, leveling, and finish quality Ability to read and follow work orders, measurements, layouts, and project instructions Ability to lead employees, correct poor work, and maintain production standards Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Experience driving work trucks and safely towing equipment trailers Skid-steer or Bobcat operating experience Hardscape and paver installation experience Dependable attendance and reliable transportation Good communication and problem-solving skills Able to work outdoors in Florida heat and changing weather conditions Able to perform physical work and repeatedly lift or carry at least 50 pounds Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus What We Offer Full-time, consistent work Competitive pay based on actual experience and ability Retirement plan with matching after 1 year with company Opportunity for advancement Established company with professional equipment and an experienced team Residential and commercial projects throughout the Tampa Bay area
Pay:
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour
