Job Description
Michael S. Coffin LLC is a landscape construction and horticultural management firm specializing in high-end residential properties throughout New England. We partner with leading landscape architects and design teams to bring detailed planting plans to life through craftsmanship and a deep understanding of best landscape practices. We're seeking an experienced Planting Crew Member to join our field team. Professional landscape experience is required. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in landscape work, understands the demands of working in the field, and wants an opportunity to continue developing their skills and career. We are looking for someone who works hard, understands and follows landscape planting best practices, pays attention to detail, works well as part of a crew, and cares about the quality of what they leave behind. What the Work Looks Like Our planting crews install detailed residential landscapes throughout Greater Boston and New England.
The work includes:
Layout and installation of trees, shrubs, perennials, and other plant material Proper handling and preparation of plant material Soil preparation and amendment Reading and working from planting and landscape plans Operating landscape tools and equipment Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for upcoming work Protecting existing conditions and completed work Maintaining clean, organized, and professional job sites Working efficiently as part of a crew to keep projects advancing The work is physically demanding, and efficiency matters. We expect our crews to work with purpose while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and following landscape planting best practices. We also expect people to pay attention to the work around them. A good crew member understands their assignment. A great crew member begins to understand what the crew is trying to accomplish, what needs to happen next, and how their work fits into the larger project. We are looking for someone who : Has professional landscape and planting experience Understands proper planting practices, plant handling, and installation Is comfortable using common landscape tools and equipment Works productively and takes direction well Pays attention to quality and job-site conditions Works well with others Is reliable and takes responsibility for their work Wants to continue learning and developing their planting and landscape skills You do not need to know everything. You do need to bring a good foundation, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn from the experienced people around you. Pay:
