Job Purpose The Greenskeeper II performs skilled golf course maintenance to help ensure exceptional playing conditions. This role operates with greater independence, supports irrigation and turf management activities, assists with training team members, and helps maintain the overall appearance and playability of the golf course. Responsibilities Perform advanced maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscaped areas using specialized turf equipment. Operate, inspect, and perform routine maintenance on golf course equipment and tools. Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments to support turf health. Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turf treatments in accordance with company policies, label requirements, and applicable regulations. Monitor course conditions and identify turf, irrigation, drainage, or safety concerns, reporting or addressing issues as appropriate. Assist with daily course setup, tournaments, and special events, including flag placement, tee markers, ropes, and signage. Perform divot repair, ball mark repair, edging, debris removal, and general grounds maintenance. Assist with training and providing guidance to new or less experienced Greenskeepers. Follow all safety procedures related to equipment operation, chemical handling, and workplace hazards. Work collaboratively with the Superintendent and maintenance team to maintain high course standards. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age due to the operation of machinery and the handling of or exposure to chemicals. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Two or more years of golf course, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related experience preferred. Experience operating specialized turf maintenance equipment. Working knowledge of irrigation systems, turf maintenance practices, and course conditioning. Knowledge of safe chemical handling and application procedures. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and dependable attendance. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Essential Functions & Physical Requirements Perform skilled golf course maintenance, including turf care, irrigation support, equipment operation, course setup, and general grounds maintenance. Safely operate golf course equipment, utility vehicles, hand tools, and other maintenance machinery while following all safety procedures. Identify and address routine turf, irrigation, equipment, drainage, and safety issues within the scope of the position. Assist with training team members and maintaining consistent course maintenance standards. Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment, noise, dust, chemicals, uneven terrain, and other conditions typical of golf course maintenance. Maintain regular attendance and the flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
