Work will be performed outdoors in forested and rural areas and may include a combination of hand thinning, brush removal, tree felling, chipping, piling, and other vegetation management activities. This is physically demanding field work that requires working on uneven terrain, around vegetation and equipment, and in varying weather conditions. We are looking for dependable, safety-minded individuals who work well as part of a crew and are comfortable performing manual forestry work. Previous forestry, tree work, fuels reduction, logging, landscaping, or chainsaw experience is preferred, but experience requirements may vary depending on the position and assigned duties. Duties Perform fuels reduction and vegetation management work using hand tools, chainsaws, and forestry equipment. Cut and remove brush, small trees, limbs, and other vegetation as directed. Lop and scatter slash and woody debris according to project specifications. Build and stack brush and slash piles in designated locations. Feed brush, limbs, and woody material into chippers. Assist with chipping operations and material handling. Fell, limb, and buck trees when qualified, experienced, and assigned to perform this work. Operate chainsaws, pole saws, brush cutters, and other approved equipment when properly trained and authorized. Drag, carry, pile, and organize cut vegetation and woody debris. Maintain required spacing, treatment specifications, and environmental protection measures established for each project. Help maintain clean and organized work areas. Inspect, clean, and perform basic maintenance on hand tools and assigned equipment. Follow crew leader instructions and project-specific work plans. Follow all company safety procedures, job hazard analyses, environmental requirements, and landowner or agency specifications. Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain awareness of coworkers, equipment, falling hazards, terrain, wildlife, and changing field conditions. Assist other crew members as needed to safely and efficiently complete project objectives. Skills Previous forestry, fuels reduction, tree service, logging, landscaping, wildfire mitigation, or similar outdoor labor experience preferred. Chainsaw and tree-felling experience strongly preferred for sawyer positions. Ability to safely use hand tools and outdoor power equipment. Ability to follow instructions, project specifications, and safety procedures. Strong awareness of workplace and field safety. Ability to work effectively as part of a crew. Dependable, punctual, and willing to work full field days. Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, dust, smoke, steep terrain, and other changing field conditions. Ability to walk and work on uneven or steep terrain for extended periods. Ability to repeatedly bend, lift, carry, drag, push, and pull materials throughout the workday. Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds or more as required for assigned duties. Reliable transportation to the designated meeting or project location. Willingness to travel locally or stay near a project site when required. CPR/First Aid, chainsaw, forestry, or related safety training is a plus.
