Non-Exempt Position Summary The Grounds Keeper / Snow Removal Technician is responsible for maintaining the resort's grounds, outdoor facilities, walkways, parking areas, and common spaces throughout the year. During the winter season, this position focuses heavily on snow and ice removal to ensure safe access for guests, employees, and resort operations. The position requires the safe and effective operation of snow-removal equipment, grounds-maintenance equipment, and hand tools. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions, including extended periods of cold, snow, wind, and low visibility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Winter / Snow Removal Perform snow and ice removal from parking lots, roads, sidewalks, stairs, entrances, decks, patios, and other resort areas. Operate snowplows, skid steers, loaders, snow blowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and other snow-removal equipment as assigned. Apply sand, salt, ice melt, and other approved materials to reduce hazardous conditions. Monitor resort grounds for snow and ice accumulation and respond to changing conditions. Assist with snow removal during and after major winter storms, including early morning, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts as required. Maintain clear and safe access to guest areas, employee areas, emergency exits, loading areas, and operational facilities. Safely remove snow from roofs, stairs, decks, walkways, and other designated areas when required and properly trained. Inspect snow-removal equipment before and after use and report mechanical problems or safety concerns. Maintain accurate records of equipment use, maintenance, and materials when required. Grounds Maintenance Maintain lawns, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and other resort grounds. Mow, trim, edge, weed, fertilize, water, and perform other routine landscaping duties. Plant, transplant, and maintain seasonal flowers and vegetation. Remove leaves, branches, debris, and other materials from resort property. Maintain and repair irrigation systems and outdoor fixtures as assigned. Assist with seasonal opening and closing of outdoor areas and facilities. Support special events, weddings, outdoor activities, and other resort operations as needed. General Maintenance & Resort Support Maintain clean, safe, and attractive exterior areas throughout the resort. Assist with setup, teardown, and movement of outdoor equipment, furniture, barricades, signs, and other materials. Perform minor repairs and maintenance within the scope of training and authorization. Assist other departments with facility, grounds, and operational needs. Respond promptly to hazards and conditions that may affect guest or employee safety. Communicate maintenance issues, hazards, and operational concerns to management. Follow all resort safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements. Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with guests, employees, vendors, and contractors. Equipment May operate and maintain equipment including, but not limited to: Snowplows and snow pushers Skid steers and compact track loaders Front-end loaders Snow blowers Tractors and utility vehicles ATVs/UTVs Mowers and weed trimmers Blowers and other landscaping equipment Hand tools and power tools Ice-removal and material-spreading equipment
MUST BE ABLE TO DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE
Qualifications Previous grounds maintenance, snow removal, landscaping, facilities, construction, or equipment-operation experience preferred. Experience operating heavy equipment or snow-removal equipment preferred. Valid driver's license required. Ability to safely operate resort vehicles and equipment. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in changing weather and operational conditions. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment inspections. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and guests. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in cold, snow, heat, wind, and other weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work on uneven terrain. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work extended shifts during significant snow events. Ability to safely enter and exit heavy equipment and resort vehicles. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks associated with snow removal and grounds maintenance. Work Schedule This position requires flexibility based on resort operations and weather conditions. Winter schedules may include early mornings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during significant snow events . Summer schedules may vary based on resort events, grounds-maintenance requirements, and operational needs. Safety Responsibilities Safety is a primary responsibility of this position.
Employees are expected to:
Follow all resort safety policies and procedures. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Conduct equipment inspections before operation. Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, accidents, and injuries immediately. Maintain awareness of guests, employees, vehicles, and other equipment while performing work. Follow proper procedures when working around slopes, roads, parking areas, moving vehicles, and heavy equipment. Participate in required safety training.
