Job Summary Edwardsville Township is seeking an experienced Skilled Park Laborer/Groundskeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in various outdoor tasks, including landscaping, lawn care, and maintenance. This role requires proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and operating machinery such as tractors. The Skilled Park Laborer/Groundskeeper will contribute to the upkeep of properties through effective landscape maintenance, tree care, and hardscape installation. A bachelor's degree in environmental science, forestry, park management etc. or 5 years of equivalent experience required. This position also requires interaction with park patrons to ensure safety and enforcement of park rules and policies.
OSHA safety guidelines are strictly enforced.
PPE's are provided.
Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
Reliable transportation is required.
A valid driver's license is required.
Preference may be given to Edwardsville Township residents. Knowledge Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED procedures preferred. Knowledge of turf management and groundskeeping. Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and regulations. Skills Energetic personality with strong interpersonal communication skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Skill in operation of large vehicles and equipment to perform essential functions. Strong sense of ownership and initiative, collaborative and flexible attitude. Abilities Ability to communicate in a positive, friendly manner to employees, supervisor, coworkers, patrons, etc. at all times. Ability to provide staff oversight and lead by example. Ability to enforce all policies, procedures and regulations. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Ability to work independently. Duties Perform lawn care tasks including mowing, trimming, and irrigation system maintenance Engage in landscape maintenance activities such as planting, weeding, and gardening Operate heavy machinery including excavators for various maintenance projects Utilize hand tools and power tools for tasks related to hardscaping and tree trimming Assist in snow plowing during winter months to maintain safe access to properties Conduct regular maintenance on all equipment to ensure optimal performance Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively Experience Proven experience in park maintenance, groundskeeping, horticulture, or related fields is required. Familiarity with mechanical systems and the ability to troubleshoot minor issues Experience in tree care practices including trimming and removal is advantageous Knowledge of irrigation systems and their maintenance is a plus Previous experience in parks and rec or similar labor-intensive roles is beneficial Join our team of skilled park laborers where your expertise will be valued, and your contributions will make a significant impact on our projects.
