POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for custodial functions at Thompson Park Activity Center for District 197 Community Education.
FTE:
1 hour a day - 4 days a week Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following: Perform regular custodial duties such as vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, removing trash/recycling/compost, cleaning glass, cleaning tabletops, cleaning bathrooms, moving furniture, changing light bulbs/batteries etc. Reports maintenance needs to TPAC Manager Unlocks and secures doors and the building according to work schedule Set-up and clean-up for special events or classes in the lodge Deep cleaning 1 or 2x per year when classes are not in session Light maintenance duties and repairs Occasional sidewalk snow removal possible as needed Complete training to ensure safety and compliance with mandated standards Other tasks as directed
Working Conditions:
Tasks involve long periods of walking, standing, stooping, lifting etc. Although minimized by safety practices, accidents, chemical and physical hazards connected with this work are always present. This position may be working around older adults requiring vigilance in minimizing possible accidents and access to undesirable areas.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires good physical conditioning, strength, agility, and endurance with no serious defect of vision, hearing or extremities that would hinder the ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to lift 30# on a regular basis.
Contacts and Relationships:
Persons in this position may come into contact with volunteers, instructors, participants, entertainers, staff etc. Communication, personal appearance, cooperative attitude, willingness to assist, and establish good working relationships is essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
Able to operate equipment associated with custodial operations Knowledge of standard safety procedures associated with this work Able to follow oral and written directions Ability to handle frequent interruptions and remain on task Experience working as a larger team, while performing tasks independently High degree of flexibility Proven record of reporting to work on a regular and punctual basis Promote positive relationships with District 197 employees, volunteers and community members Valid driver's license and good driving record are required at all times if driving district vehicles We strongly believe that diversity of experience contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to a better school system and better results for all students.
