Job Description

Posting Details This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist? The role of the Grounds and Landscaping position is to create and maintain a pleasant and functional outdoor environment for the properties of Los Lunas Community Program. The duties include a variety of tasks such as: Mowing/cutting/trimming foliage; cleaning of outdoor spaces and sidewalks; pickup up/raking trash/debris on properties; and maintain inventory of supplies. How does it get done? This job is completed by performing grounds and landscaping tasks such as; Mowing/cutting/trimming foliage; cleaning of outdoor spaces and sidewalks; pickup up/raking trash/debris on properties with the use of gardening/hand and power tools. This position will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies. Who are the customers? Los Lunas Community Program Staff, Department of Health Staff, Individuals Served by Los Lunas Community Program, Lessors for leased properties within LLCP and other External customers in the Community Ideal Candidate Los Lunas Community Program Staff, Department of Health Staff, Individuals Served by Los Lunas Community Program, Lessors for leased properties within LLCP and other External customers in the Community Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or Equivalent. No prior experience or training required. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Employment is conditional pending results of a criminal background check. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions - hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow; exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; must be able to work safely with dirt, soils, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and pesticides; must be able to work in noisy conditions around power tools and equipment; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; hand dexterity required for some duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; some climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling to perform job duties; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may also be performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours and may be subject to call out for emergencies on short notice; willingness to accept change of geographical assignments; interaction with the public.
