THE POSITION
As an Equipment Operator A for the Department of Human Services (DHS) at the Selinsgrove Center, you help drive daily operations that keep the entire campus moving forward. This position gives you the chance to work with mowers, trucks, buses, and a variety of equipment that keeps the grounds looking sharp and ready for use. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position operates vehicles, mowers and equipment to support grounds care, transportation and general maintenance needs throughout the facility. As an Equipment Operator A, you will perform the following duties:
Equipment Operation:
Operate mowers, trucks, buses, and power equipment to support facility needs
Safety Checks:
Complete readiness inspections, make observations, and report concerns to supervisors
Grounds Maintenance:
Mow, trim, and clean lawns, walkways, parking areas, and service zones
Manual Tasks:
Load and unload supplies and materials and perform general physical labor as assigned
Weather Response:
Plow snow, clear sidewalks, and assist with tasks during bad weather
Tool Use:
Use hand tools and related equipment to complete assigned responsibilities
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week The following shifts are available: 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work every 4th weekend and have the following Monday and Friday off after work weekends. 2nd shift (12:00 PM to 8:00 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work every other weekend and have the following Monday and Friday off after work weekends. Overtime and travel as needed Free parking
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
You must have possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
You must possess a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with air brake endorsement. You must obtain passenger endorsement to your Class B CDL within 6 months of employment.
