Job Description
Job Summary Join our vibrant team here at Fast's Greenery and become a vital part of creating beautiful, thriving outdoor spaces! In this energetic role, you will assist customers with their gardening needs, maintain lush plant displays, and ensure the garden center operates smoothly and efficiently throughout the seasons. Your enthusiasm for horticulture and customer service will help inspire our visitors to cultivate their own green spaces. Your communication and team-minded approach will ensure success in this dynamic environment where your gardening skills and retail expertise can flourish, making every day rewarding and engaging. Duties Provide advice to customers on plant & shrub selections, houseplant & landscape maintenance, and floral design to enhance their indoor/outdoor projects Maintain attractive displays by stocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and ensuring proper signage for easy shopping Assist customers at the point of sale using POS (Point of Sale) systems, handling cash transactions accurately and efficiently Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep the garden center inviting and well-kept Engage in merchandising activities to promote seasonal plants, gardening tools, and outdoor decor effectively Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: prolonged standing, bending, crouching, lifting +/-50 lbs. Our lot is roughly 3 acres and is mostly all gravel- we do a lot of walking throughout the day. We work outside in the elements and inside greenhouses that can get well-above outdoor temperatures Skills Strong knowledge of gardening, horticulture, floral design, and landscape maintenance techniques is desired. Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customers Proven experience with retail sales, cashiering, cash handling, and POS systems in a fast-paced environment Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor Organizational skills to manage stocking routines and merchandising displays efficiently Knowledge of garden-care equipment, plant-care practices, and general gardening practices is desired. Ability to receive and follow directions; while taking initiative in communication, if/when needed While the challenges of the horticulture industry are not for everyone; the ones who take a liking to it, are usually rooted for life.
