Job Description

Job Summary:
The Lake Bonham Manager is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance oversight, customer service, and public safety functions of the Lake Bonham recreational areas, campgrounds, marina areas, boat ramps, restrooms, and associated Lake Bonham recreation area facilities. This position serves as the primary on-site representative for the City at Lake Bonham and requires strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills. The position is responsible for enforcing park rules/policies, assisting lake visitors, coordinating campground activities, overseeing campsite compliance, and responding to emergencies/operational issues as needed. The Lake Bonham Manager position requires on-site residency within an assigned campsite with full utility hookups provided by the City as a condition of employment. Employee must provide and maintain their own RV or camper suitable for full-time occupancy and in compliance with the rules and regulations established by the City of Bonham.
Responsibilities:
The following examples of work are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Park & Campground Operations Oversee daily operations of Lake Bonham campgrounds, boat ramps, park facilities, and associated recreational areas. Conduct routine inspections of campsites, facilities, equipment, roadways, and public areas. Monitor campground occupancy and ensure compliance with City ordinances, campground regulations, administrative rules, and permit requirements. Coordinate campsite assignments, visitor communications, and related administrative functions. Assist with campground cleanliness and property/equipment maintenance. Identify and report unsafe conditions, vandalism, or infrastructure concerns. Customer Service & Public Relations Serve as the primary customer service contact for campground guests, visitors, and lake users. Respond professionally and courteously to questions, complaints, concerns, and requests for assistance. Promote a positive public image for the City of Bonham through excellent customer interactions. Provide information regarding campground rules, reservations, fees, recreational opportunities, and lake amenities. Assist in resolving disputes or conflicts between campground users when necessary. Safety, Enforcement & Emergency Response Monitor Lake Bonham recreation area property and campgrounds for compliance with City rules, campground regulations, and safety requirements. Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency services, animal control, code enforcement, or other agencies as necessary. Respond to after-hours calls, emergencies, utility issues, weather events, or public safety incidents as needed. Assist with evacuation procedures or emergency response operations during severe weather or emergency conditions. Ensure emergency contact information and operational procedures remain current and accessible. Maintenance Oversight Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed. Monitor condition and operational readiness of City equipment and facilities assigned to the lake area. Coordinate repair requests and maintenance needs with City staff and contractors. Maintain inventories of supplies, tools, and operational equipment. Assist with mowing, grounds maintenance, and facility upkeep. Physical Demands /
Qualifications:
Working Conditions Outdoor work environment with regular exposure to heat, cold, rain, humidity, insects, and uneven terrain. Work schedule includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs. Position requires on-call availability for operational and emergency response needs. On-site residency within the assigned campground area is required as a condition of employment. Physical Requirements Ability to walk extended distances over uneven terrain. Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate light equipment, tools, and utility vehicles. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with the public, vendors, contractors, and City staff. Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve conflicts effectively. Basic knowledge of campground, park, or recreational facility operations preferred. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. General knowledge of equipment operation, grounds maintenance, and minor repairs preferred. Ability to learn and enforce City ordinances, policies, and campground regulations. Basic computer and reservation system skills preferred. Education /
Experience:
  • Valid Driver License Class "C" required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in park operations, campground management, customer service, maintenance, hospitality, or related field preferred.
  • Experience handling public interactions and conflict resolution strongly preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
