Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Specialized training in tree maintenance or a related field is desirable.
Experience:
Two years of increasingly responsible tree maintenance, including tree climbing experience, are required.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Class A driver's license within one year of employment. Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months, Electrical Hazard Awareness Procedures and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications. Possession of certification as a Tree Worker and/or a Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is desirable. Why Simi Valley? Job Description:
Tree Trimmer II Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess: A strong background in tree maintenance, climbing, and arboricultural practices. Experience pruning, removing, and caring for trees using ropes, saddles, aerial lift trucks, chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other specialized equipment. Knowledge of traffic control procedures, emergency rescue techniques, and the safe operation of tools, herbicides, and fertilizers. The ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. A willingness to respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and use basic computer applications. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and occasionally serve in a lead capacity.
