- Tree Care & Landscaping Position Summary The Experienced Tree Climber is responsible for performing professional tree-care operations, including climbing, pruning, trimming, removals, and related tree-maintenance work.
The position requires experience working safely at heights, proper use of climbing equipment, and the ability to work effectively as part of a tree-care crew. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Safely climb trees using approved climbing techniques and equipment. Perform tree pruning, trimming, crown reduction, deadwood removal, and other tree-care services. Assist with tree removals and sectional removals when required. Safely operate and work with ropes, harnesses, climbing systems, chainsaws, and other tree-care equipment. Make proper pruning cuts while maintaining tree health and structural integrity. Work with ground crew members to safely lower branches, limbs, and other materials. Communicate effectively with the ground crew and crew leader throughout climbing operations. Assist with rigging and lowering operations as appropriate to experience and training. Inspect climbing gear, ropes, tools, and equipment before use and report damaged equipment. Maintain a clean and organized job site. Follow all company safety procedures and applicable tree-care safety standards. Properly use required PPE and fall-protection equipment. Assist with brush chipping, cleanup, loading, and other ground operations when needed. Provide professional and courteous service at customer properties. Perform other tree-care and landscaping duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous professional tree-climbing experience required. Demonstrated ability to safely climb and work in trees at various heights. Experience with chainsaws and professional tree-care equipment. Knowledge of proper pruning and tree-removal techniques. Ability to work safely as part of a climbing and ground crew. Strong understanding of job-site safety and personal protective equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Valid driver's license preferred; CDL is a plus. Work Environment This position is primarily outdoors and involves working at heights, around trees, power equipment, ropes, branches, wood debris, and uneven terrain. Work may be performed in varying weather conditions. Physical Requirements Ability to climb trees and work at significant heights. Ability to safely operate and control tree-care tools and equipment. Ability to lift, carry, pull, and maneuver equipment and materials. Ability to maintain physical stamina throughout a workday. Ability to work in confined or elevated positions as required.
