Position Overview:
Rite Projects USA Inc. is hiring dependable Welder Helpers / Fire Watch personnel to support mobile field welding crews on a utility construction project in Nebraska. The role includes fire watch, welding support, material handling, and maintaining safe, organized work areas in outdoor field conditions.
Scope of Work:
The helper / fire watch will be responsible for: Perform dedicated fire watch during and after welding, cutting, grinding, and preheat activities, as required Assist welders with leads, tools, consumables, work-area preparation, and preheat activities Support cutting, grinding, cleaning, fit-up, and material handling as directed Monitor sparks, slag, hot-work hazards, and fire risks; keep fire-prevention equipment ready for use Maintain clean, organized work areas and support mobile welding crews as needed Follow approved hot-work procedures and complete required safety documentation Required Qualifications Ability to work 12-hour outdoor shifts and safely lift, carry, and move tools, materials, and equipment Valid driver's license and ability to travel between field work locations Reliable, safety-focused, able to remain attentive during extended fire-watch periods, follow instructions, and work effectively as part of a mobile crew Ability to complete required orientations, tailboards, hazard assessments, and safety documentation Ability to meet hot-work, fire-prevention, site-access, drug and alcohol testing, and U.S. work authorization requirements Preferred Qualifications Previous fire-watch, welder-helper, construction, industrial, utility, or field-labor experience Experience around welding, cutting, grinding, preheat, or other hot-work operations Basic rigging or material-handling experience OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, HazCom, or fire-watch training is an asset
Compensation:
$18.00-$23.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications. Per diem, travel support, or lodging arrangements will be available for qualified applicants. How to
