Position Summary The Tree Climber is responsible for safely climbing, pruning, trimming, and removing trees and branches using specialized climbing and rigging equipment. This role works closely with the ground crew to complete tree care operations efficiently while maintaining strict safety standards. Key Responsibilities Climb trees using ropes, harnesses, saddles, and other specialized climbing equipment Prune, trim, and remove trees or branches in a safe and efficient manner Inspect trees for signs of disease, pest activity, decay, or structural defects Operate chainsaws, chippers, pole saws, and other tree care equipment properly Perform rigging, cutting, and controlled lowering of heavy branches and tree sections Communicate and coordinate with ground crew members to ensure safe job site operations Follow all company safety policies, industry standards, and proper work procedures at all times Maintain a clean and organized job site by removing debris and completing cleanup tasks Assist with equipment inspection, maintenance, and safe handling practices Qualifications Prior experience in tree climbing, arborist work, or related tree care services preferred Knowledge of tree species, pruning standards, climbing techniques, and safety procedures Ability to work at heights comfortably and safely Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong physical stamina, strength, and endurance for demanding manual labor Familiarity with climbing gear, chainsaws, rigging systems, and other tree care equipment Valid driver's license preferred or required, depending on company needs Skills and Competencies Strong balance, coordination, and body control High attention to detail and strong safety awareness Effective teamwork and communication skills Problem-solving and decision-making ability in the field Mechanical aptitude and ability to handle specialized equipment
