Previous asphalt paving, milling, roadway construction, or related experience is preferred , although candidates with strong work ethic and relevant construction experience may also be considered.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with asphalt paving and milling operations. Support preparation of work areas before paving or milling begins. Perform handwork associated with asphalt placement and finishing. Assist with raking, shoveling, spreading, and leveling asphalt as needed. Assist equipment operators and other crew members during paving and milling operations. Help maintain safe and organized work zones. Perform cleanup of work areas, tools, and equipment. Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing materials and supplies. Follow directions from foremen, supervisors, and equipment operators. Work safely around trucks, paving equipment, milling machines, rollers, and other heavy equipment. Follow company and job-site safety procedures. Perform other reasonable duties necessary to complete paving and milling projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Asphalt paving or milling experience preferred . Road construction or general construction experience is a plus. Familiarity with paving and milling equipment is a plus. Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work. Ability to work safely around moving vehicles and heavy equipment. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew. Dependable transportation and reliable attendance. Strong work ethic and willingness to work in changing field conditions. Ability to work early mornings and varying schedules based on project needs.
PHYSICAL & WORK CONDITIONS
This position may require prolonged standing and walking, bending, lifting, carrying materials, using hand tools, and working around hot asphalt and heavy construction equipment. Work is primarily outdoors and may take place in heat, cold, dust, noise, traffic, and changing weather conditions.
