Position Summary SJB is seeking a skilled and self-driven Mason to join our team. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in brick, block, and stone work, demonstrates leadership on job sites, and contributes to a positive, customer-focused environment. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft and wants to play a long-term role in SJB's continued growth. Masonry is a craft and this role is a part of a craftsmanship career path. Successful candidates should take pride in hands-on work, quality results, attention to detail, and develop the skills required to become a highly skilled craftsman in the masonry trade. Responsibilities
Lay brick, block, or stone on horizontal and vertical surfaces without supervision.
Perform basic layout and work independently for extended periods.
Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
Tool various types of mortar joints to specification.
Collaborate with and support the foreman in mentoring and developing masons and laborers.
Maintain a professional and friendly attitude with coworkers and customers.
Prioritize company interests when making daily decisions.
Bring and use all necessary hand tools required for efficient work.
Set and work toward daily goals that are challenging yet attainable.
Demonstrate continuous self‑improvement and contribute to an innovative workplace.
Assist foremen or supervisors in any reasonable request that does not violate safety or personal beliefs. Safety Responsibilities
Follow all SJB safety procedures and maintain safe working practices at all times.
Watch out for the safety and wellbeing of other team members. Qualifications
Professional masonry experience (brick, block, and stone).
Ability to perform high-quality work independently.
Valid Minnesota driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in varying weather conditions.
Professional communication skills and strong customer interaction abilities.
Commitment to long-term growth within SJB. Preferred Skills
Experience mentoring apprentices or laborers.
Ability to lead small crews when needed.
Strong understanding of masonry tools, materials, joints, and layout.
Strong attention to detail and high craftsmanship standards.
