Lead Carpenter / Wildlife Exclusion Technician — 1099 Independent Subcontractor Lakeshore Nuisance Wildlife Control LLC.
Starting Pay:
$30.00-$35.00 per hour Company Vehicle Provided | Paid Drive Time Lakeshore Nuisance Wildlife Control LLC. is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Lead Carpenter / Wildlife Exclusion Technician (1099 Independent Subcontractor) to join our Wildlife Control Team. This is a hands-on position requiring strong carpentry skills, extensive ladder experience, comfort working at heights, and the ability to work in attics, crawlspaces, and other confined areas . The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes pride in professional-quality workmanship and is capable of working independently and providing leadership when necessary. Starting Locations & Travel Two primary starting locations: Kingsford Heights, Indiana and Three Oaks, Michigan Must be willing and able to report to either location as requested Company vehicle provided Drive time is paid Valid driver's license required Must be comfortable operating a company vehicle and traveling to customer properties throughout our service area Compensation & 90-Day Evaluation Starting compensation is $30.00-$35.00 per hour , based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skill level. This position includes a 90-day probationary/evaluation period . Compensation increases are not automatic and will be based on demonstrated performance, reliability, workmanship, leadership, safety, and overall ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Performance will be evaluated in the following areas:
Ladder Experience & Safety:
Must be comfortable and capable of safely climbing and working from extension ladders, including heights of up to 40 feet when required
Carpentry & Workmanship:
Must consistently produce neat, clean, professional-grade carpentry, repair, caulking, sealing, soffit/fascia repair, and exclusion work
Attendance & Punctuality:
Must be dependable, reliable, and on time
Professional Conduct & Leadership:
Demonstrates good judgment, accountability, respectful communication, teamwork, and the ability to lead when necessary
Self-Motivation & Preparedness:
Must be capable of working independently, staying productive, and arriving prepared for assigned jobs
Confined-Space Work:
Must be physically comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, and other tight or confined areas
Safety Compliance:
Must consistently follow company safety procedures and wildlife-handling instructions
Availability:
Must be willing and available to work Fridays, weekends, and on-call assignments when services are scheduled If required performance standards are not met by the conclusion of the 90-day evaluation period, compensation may be adjusted to $25.00 per hour , subject to the independent subcontractor agreement and applicable law. Schedule & Availability Candidates must have schedule flexibility.
This position requires:
Friday and weekend availability Willingness to work weekends as needed On-call availability for live-animal trapping and follow-up services Ability to work extended hours when necessary Flexibility to assist with estimates, wildlife removal, carpentry, repairs, and exclusion services Ability to work in varying weather and temperature conditions, including hot attics, cold weather, and outdoor environments Position Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Perform professional carpentry, repair, sealing, and wildlife-exclusion work Complete soffit and fascia repairs associated with wildlife damage and exclusion work Repair and replace damaged exterior building materials as required Assist with all phases of carpentry and construction-related projects Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately Perform framing and layout work Perform trim carpentry and finish work as required Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively Properly operate a caulk gun and produce clean, professional-grade finished work Seal residential and commercial structures to prevent wildlife and rodent entry Perform exterior repairs to wildlife-damaged areas of homes and businesses Work from extension ladders at various heights and angles Work from ladders at heights of up to 40 feet when required Enter and work inside attics, crawlspaces, and other confined areas Perform structural and ground wildlife exclusions Work independently or alongside a small team to complete exclusion, repair, and sealing projects Wildlife Control Responsibilities Training will be provided for wildlife-specific procedures as necessary.
Responsibilities may include:
Checking, resetting, and removing wildlife traps Safely handling and removing animals from traps Lifting and carrying traps that may contain wildlife, including raccoons Accessing and servicing traps installed near soffits, fascia, rooflines, or along exterior portions of structures Assisting with wildlife removal and exclusion procedures Following all company safety procedures and wildlife-handling instructions Customer Service & Documentation The successful candidate must: Communicate professionally and respectfully with customers Have good telephone and interpersonal communication skills Follow instructions and communicate effectively with management and team members Use a company-provided tablet or designated system to document services Write clear and detailed job notes for each service Accurately document work performed and relevant findings Learn quickly and retain training and job-specific information Represent Lakeshore Nuisance Wildlife Control LLC. professionally while on customer properties
Previous professional carpentry or construction experience Experience repairing or replacing soffit and fascia Experience with exterior residential repairs Knowledge of framing principles Trim carpentry experience Experience using power tools and hand tools Wildlife exclusion, pest control, roofing, soffit/fascia, or similar experience is a plus Required /
Strongly Preferred:
Valid driver's license Strong carpentry ability Must not be afraid of heights Must have experience and confidence using extension ladders Must be capable of safely working from ladders at various angles and heights Must be comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, and confined areas Must be able to use a caulk gun effectively and neatly Must follow ladder, carpentry, and wildlife safety procedures Must be dependable, respectful, professional, and punctual Must be capable of working independently Must be able to work effectively as part of a small team Must demonstrate leadership abilities when required Must be willing to learn and grow within the wildlife-control industry Must be available for Friday, weekend, and on-call assignments Must be capable of working long hours when necessary Must be capable of working in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work.
