DESCRIPTION
The carpenter is responsible for constructing, erecting, designing, building, installing, repairing structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items made of materials including wood, plastic, fiberglass, vinyl, and steel, using hand and power tools.
Primary Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare the layout of the project. Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions. Ensure correct materials are used for the project. Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors. Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall. Utilize all hand tools, drills, and nail guns to repair and erect structures. Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives. Work on ladders, scaffold, and the top beams of buildings. Check Work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications. Use levels, rulers, plumb bobs, framing squares, and transit to ensure everything is level and secure. Work with prefabricated buildings. Repair or build stairs, decks, and railings. Install cabinets, molding, and different types of flooring. Hanging and finishing drywall to be primed and painted, staining trim work. Remodel homes and businesses. Basis knowledge of mason work, concrete forms, and flatwork. Erect scaffolding and safety barriers. Install windows, doors, trim, fixtures, and cabinets on remodels and new homes. Repair and replace panes of glass, tile, and millwork. All other duties as assigned by Management.
Skills & Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or General education degree (GED) Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening and background checks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics and electrical schematics Knowledge of safety standards and procedures 3 years of carpentry experience
