Marine Construction Carpenter/ Dockbuilder

Job Description

Job Overview We are hiring a Marine Construction Carpenter to join our growing marine construction team. This role focuses on the construction, repair, and installation of marine structures including docks, piers, bulkheads, gangways, and related waterfront infrastructure. The ideal candidate has strong carpentry skills, is comfortable working on and around water, and can work as part of a crew on demanding marine construction projects. This position involves a mix of field work on active job sites and occasional shop work. Reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to work in challenging marine environments are critical. Duties Measure, cut, and install wood components including framing, decking, piling caps, walers, and structural members Construct and repair docks, piers, bulkheads, gangways, and floating dock systems Read and interpret drawings, layouts, and basic plans Assist with or perform pile driving operations (timber, steel, or composite piles) Perform shoring, sheet pile installation, and waterfront stabilization work Operate or assist with excavators, cranes, skid steers, and other construction equipment (experience preferred) Perform basic welding or assist welders with metal components (steel/aluminum) Assist with rigging, lifting operations, and material handling Perform general site work including demolition, layout, and cleanup Work safely on barges, floats, and waterfront job sites Qualifications Carpentry experience in construction (marine or heavy construction experience strongly preferred) Ability to accurately measure, cut, and install wood materials Comfortable working outdoors, in wet environments, and on/over water Experience or willingness to learn pile driving, shoring, and sheet pile installation Welding experience (steel or aluminum) is a plus Experience operating excavators, cranes, or other heavy equipment is a plus Masonry or concrete experience is a plus Ability to work independently or as part of a crew Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety Job Types Full-time Benefits Flexible schedule Opportunity to work on unique waterfront and marine construction projects Room to grow into equipment operation, pile driving, or foreman roles
